We consider fundamentals of digital audio signal processing, musical acoustics and psychoacoustics, sound analysis and a variety of sound synthesis techniques as resources for composing. In weekly classwork and longer midterm projects, students utilize creative and technical skills to build programs and use them to compose engaging sounds, musical exercises and pieces. The course utilizes the Max/MSP visual programming environment in combination with the odot scripting language.
